Music is one of the best things you can do with your preschool-aged kids at home. Songs like the freeze dance help them to follow directions and learn how to follow instructions. The sleeping song is a great way to get them to go to sleep at nap time as well. If you have a kid who has trouble with agility, an indoor obstacle course is great for helping them to maneuver through their home. Scavenger hunts and yoga are also great for occupying their young minds.

If you have a child that likes to dance, a copy dance is great for getting your kids up and moving and helping them practice following instructions as well. Making up dances and telling stories to one another is another great way to get them up and moving and to really help them play.

If you have a child that loves to do arts and crafts, collages, homemade stuffed animals, self-portraits and shapes are all great activities that get them really thinking and help them to use their minds and hands to make something truly fun. An abacus is a great way to teach numbers and dexterity, as well as an ice cube tray for sorting and counting. Making collages, melting crayons, making masks, and so on can help your child use their minds and hands to have some truly fantastic time and fun.

If your child prefers, drama is another excellent way to help them develop their imagination and really flex their brains. Pretend play is so essential for kids when they are developing, and making sure that you are taking the time to foster their pretend play can make a big difference.
